Collage Journal Class:
In this class we will explore authentic, creative self-expression. Intuitive collage uses images, colors, textures and words to create our own personal works of art than can help us uncover our deeper feelings, insights and desires.  We will explore the creative art of collage by making our own personal Collage Journals for self expression and self exploration. Once our books are made we will use them for different things each day: to continuing creating collages, as a writing journal or drawing journal and to experiment with different techniques and media.  Different collage, drawing and writing exercises will be explored.  Collage is accessible to everyone - no previous art experience or special talent is needed. Easy to use magazine images, collage papers and found objects will be supplied - and please bring anything you might have that you would like to use.
Life Book Class:
The aim of this class is for each person to create their own unique book of their life story. By exploring different media and techniques (painting, drawing, watercolor, colored pencil, wax pastel, pastel, collage, etc.) we will each explore the images that constitute our life. Through a series of carefully designed exercises we will use images, colors, textures and words to recreate our own history. This will help us to rediscover the journey that we have undertaken and all of its varied meanings. This work is accessible to everyone - no previous art experience or special talent is needed. Easy to use art materials and instruction will be supplied.  Please bring anything from your life you might have that you would like to incorporate into your book - photographs, letters, drawings, memorabilia, etc.

The expressive and creative arts are a holistic transformative process that can be used with any population and age group to facilitate physical healing through stress reduction; emotional transformation; a deeper sense of self-awareness; consciousness evolution and creative development.

A multi-dimensional approach to the expressive and creative arts is used concentrating specifically on an integration of the visual arts with movement, sound, and expressive writing.  In any session we may use painting, drawing, collage, mandalas, visual journaling, poetry, fiber arts, knitting, storytelling, quilting, crocheting, expressive writing, mask making, touch drawing, or sculpture to tap into our inner intuitive  wisdom, to journey to the authentic self and to bring more adventure, passion, mystery, and meaning to life.


The expressive arts uses a variety of modalities to Access, Release, and Transform stressful emotions that impede the immune system function and diminish the relaxation response.

Expressive Arts Facilitators utilize the creative process to foster self-discovery, enjoyment, and healing. For many of us, healing art is a spiritual path, a transformational process, a way of being. We believe that making art frees the body’s healing mechanisms and unites body, mind, and spirit. In art and healing, no interpretation or therapy is necessary. The creative process is the healer. Here, art is transformational in itself.


The focus is on the PROCESS not the PRODUCT.

How does art heal? Scientific studies tell us that art heals by changing a person’s physiology and attitude. The body’s physiology changes from one of stress to one of deep relaxation, from one of fear to one of creativity and inspiration. Art and music put a person into a different brain wave pattern; they affect a person’s autonomic nervous system, their hormonal balance and their brain neurotransmitters.
Art and music affect every cell in the body instantly to create a healing physiology that changes the immune system and blood flow to all the organs. Art and music also immediately change a person’s perceptions of their world. They change attitude, emotional state, and pain perception. They create hope and positivity and they help people cope with difficulties. They transform a person’s outlook and way of being in the world.
